There was an apartment house named Ikebukuro Montparnasse by a poet, in the Ikebukuro district of Tokyo. An assortment of artists lived together there. They drew or painted pictures, discussed art and society, drank, and fell in love. The scenes are set in 1943, 1945, and then now. It is a moving play which raises such questions as what is art, what is love, what it means to live.
